Common Reflux Triggers

As we embrace the cozy flavors of fall, it's important to be aware of common ingredients in seasonal beverages that may trigger reflux symptoms. Below are some common triggers that can aggravate symptoms of reflux ↓

  • Caffeine: can stimulate acid production and relax the lower esophageal sphincter, potentially leading to discomfort.

  • Citrus flavors: a common staple in festive drinks, can result in increasingly acidic reflux.

  • Heavy cream & high-fat dairy products: can also increase the risk of reflux symptoms.

However, there are many alternatives we can incorporate to enjoy the flavors of fall, while also helping to reduce the risk of reflux-related symptoms!
